leaking shower drain?! Here we were called out to a two unit condo where the water from the second floor shower was coming out through the ceiling into the first floor shower. We were able to determine where the cause of the water leak was coming from and it was the existing shower drain that had been repaired/replaced ears prior, but was still using the old existing close pattern cast-iron trap, which was doing two things. It was holding and catching hair, causing clogs and the waist and overflow a drain was installed in properly due to space constructions. We were able to get limited access to the drain line past the trap and cut out far enough pipe to be able to install a new ABS trap, which gave just enough space to install a new waste and overflow at the proper slope for the water to drain and not have the parts angled or back pitched like the existing one was. After our services were completed, we were able to test and confirm we stopped the leak allowing the upstairs tenant to use the shower like normal again and the downstairs tenant won’t be getting the water into their unit anymore.
